SENIOR TRANSPORT PLANNER

Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Degree level qualification or equivalent experience
Membership of relevant professional organisation
At least 5 years transport planning experience
Knowledge and application of national, regional and local policy and design guidance
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience of working with computer-based systems including Microsoft programmes
Manage your own workload and delegate tasks
Provide high-level initial feedback without benefit of technical assessments
Ability to step in to assist projects you are not involved with; providing guidance, attending meetings, advising clientRole Specific Requirements
Write, check and on occasion approve technical reports such as Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans and Technical Notes
Prepare appeal documentation including Statement of Case and Statement of Common Ground
Successfully project manage schemes, including budget and time management and requesting additional fees where required
Excellent client / officer liaison and management
Assist with training junior members of staff
Ability to complete / review / approve planning drawing requirements, such as visibility splays, vehicle tracking diagrams, access designs etc with minimal changes
Independent attendance at Public Consultation events, project team/client meetings, appeal meetings & Local Highway Authority meetings
Prepare fee proposals and tenders for all project scales
Good understanding of junction modelling packages, and methodologies to calculate trip generation and distributions, including 'Decide and Provide'
Ability to identify and design mitigation schemes to overcome capacity, safety or active travel constraints
Complete access appraisals; including ability to design a variety of access options and provide high level feedback to clients
Be adaptable to assist team members and cover project responsibilities while other colleagues are away
