My Client is seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Principal Transport Planner to join our growing team. In this role, you will be expected to bring your technical expertise to deliver high-quality transport planning solutions for a wide range of projects. You will be responsible for leading both small to medium-scale projects independently and larger-scale projects with support, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual looking to take on a leadership role and contribute to the development of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Delivery:

Lead and manage small to medium-scale transport planning projects independently, ensuring successful delivery to time, cost, and quality standards. Provide support on larger, complex projects, ensuring they meet the defined scope and objectives. Take ownership of all project deliverables, from scoping and planning through to completion, delivering high-quality results within deadlines.

Business Development & Client Management:

Proactively engage in business development activities, building strong relationships with existing and new clients. Prepare accurate and competitive fee quotations, ensuring that all aspects of the project are covered. Actively contribute to the company’s growth by expanding the client base and identifying new opportunities. Maintain long-term client relationships, delivering excellent service and developing trust.

Take responsibility for meeting invoicing targets and ensuring project budgets are met, including managing financial risks. Regularly monitor project progress and costs, ensuring that projects remain within the set budget. Contribute to financial management and profitability of projects, preparing accurate reports on project status and financial forecasts.

Provide leadership and guidance to junior team members, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment. Mentor and support the development of your team, sharing knowledge and best practices to encourage growth and knowledge transfer. Work closely with other senior staff to ensure that all technical aspects of the project are coordinated effectively across teams. Lead by example in promoting a positive company culture, emphasizing the importance of teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement.

Training & Development:

Actively contribute to the development and training of team members, identifying areas for growth and providing guidance and support. Take responsibility for your own professional development and ensure that you maintain an up-to-date CPD (Continuing Professional Development) record, meeting the necessary CPD days per year. Provide input to the creation of training materials and sessions for the broader team.

Technical Leadership:

Demonstrate advanced technical knowledge and problem-solving skills in transport planning, making sound decisions with minimal supervision. Provide advice and guidance to colleagues on complex issues, ensuring that technical solutions are practical, cost-effective, and sustainable. Remain up-to-date with industry developments, best practices, and relevant regulations.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

* Relevant degree (or equivalent) in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, or related field.
* A minimum of 5 years of experience in transport planning, with significant experience managing projects and teams.
* Proven track record in business development, client management, and financial management.
* Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire, mentor, and manage teams.
* Excellent technical skills, with a deep understanding of transport planning methodologies and principles.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams.
* Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects, delivering high-quality results.
* A commitment to continuous professional development (CPD) and maintaining industry knowledge.
