Overview

Responsibilities

* Lead and manage a team of digital product owners, fostering an environment of collaboration, creativity & high performance.
* Own the product vision, and define and execute a comprehensive digital strategy for client-facing digital channels to create market-leading digital experiences for clients.
* Develop & own a consolidated digital roadmap that reflects strategy, addresses client needs, and aligns with bank-wide technology initiatives.
* Create & embed prioritisation framework(s) that optimise for time to value.
* Embed a culture of data-driven decision making at all stages of the product lifecycle.
* Manage priorities across agile digital squads to optimise for client & business value.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams including UX, Service Design, Engineering & Architecture.
* Develop and own OKRs to measure the impact of product iterations.
* Track record of delivering 0-1 & scale products in the digital space, ideally in a regulated environment.
* Experience working with UX / Service Design / Human Centred Design / Design thinking approaches.
* While not required to be a software engineer, must be technology literate and comfortable participating in technical discussions.
* Desirable: Demonstrable experience embedding innovative technology solutions, e.g. AI/ML/GenAI.


Purpose of the role

Accountabilities

* Execution of market research to understand customer needs, pain points, and emerging trends to support profitability, market sizing and positioning for new products, and to identify opportunities for diversification to gain a competitive advantage.
* Collaborate with stakeholders across departments (marketing, sales, technology, engineers, designers) to generate innovative and feasible product ideas and prototypes for testing aligned with customer needs and strategic goals.
* Develop concepts and specifications defining features, functionalities, target market, user interface, technical specifications, and potential revenue models of new products.
* Evaluate technical feasibility, legal compliance, and risks associated with development and launch of new products.
* Monitor market trends and feedback from internal employees and target customers through prototypes, user testing, and beta programs to refine the product before launch.
* Manage comprehensive launch plans and technical deployments for products, establishing rollout timelines, marketing strategies, training initiatives and communication channels.
* Monitor key metrics such as adoption rates, usage patterns, customer satisfaction, and revenue generation to assess performance against goals.


Director Expectations

* Provide leadership for a large team or sub-function, embedding a performance culture aligned with business values; or, for an individual contributor, lead organisation-wide projects and act as a technical expert and thought leader.
* Train, guide and coach less experienced specialists and provide information affecting long-term profits, risks, and strategic decisions.
* Provide expert advice to senior functional management to influence decisions outside of own function; contribute to function-wide strategic initiatives.
* Manage, coordinate and enable resourcing, budgeting and policy creation for a significant sub-function.
* Escalate breaches of policies appropriately; foster compliance and ensure regulations are observed.
* Focus on the external environment, regulators or advocacy groups to monitor and influence when appropriate.
* Demonstrate broad knowledge of industry practices and how the function integrates with the business division / Group.
* Use analytical skills to solve problems and design solutions in complex situations.
* Exercise management authority to make significant decisions within own area; negotiate with and influence stakeholders at a senior level.
* Act as principal contact point for key clients and counterparts in other functions/business divisions; may act as a spokesperson for the function.
