 
        
        Geotechnical Consultant – South of England
Opportunity
We’re expanding our Geo Division in the South of England (London or Southampton) and are seeking a Geotechnical Consultant to join us. Geo is a core discipline within Stantec, and we look for professionals ready to take the next step in their development. Our geotechnical team undertakes site investigations, interprets field data, produces design reports, and supports construction. Projects include large-scale earthworks, surcharging, ground improvements, remediation integration, and development of sustainable, data‑driven solutions.
Key Responsibilities
 * Undertake and supervise site investigations and interpret field data.
 * Produce professional geotechnical design reports and construction phase support.
 * Engage with large‑scale earthworks such as surcharging and ground improvements.
 * Coordinate with the remediation team and develop innovative solutions using 3D data.
 * Support all project delivery aspects, including client liaison and coordination with multidisciplinary teams.
Key Qualifications
 * BEng, BSc or higher in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering, or first degree in Geology with an MSc in Geotechnical Engineering (or equivalent).
 * 2+ years’ experience in the field with a solid grasp of UK‑based design practices.
 * Strong foundation in soil mechanics, soil‑structure interaction, and preparation of ground models and design parameters.
 * Experience in construction phase support, client liaison, and project coordination.
 * Proficient with industry‑standard software: Oasys Pile, Alp, PDisp, Adsec, ADC, Rocscience Slide, WALLAP, AutoCAD, and Excel.
 * Knowledge of Plaxis 3D or other Finite Element software is a plus.
 * Aiming to become a Chartered Member of a relevant institution (open to candidates currently pursuing chartered status).
