Location: Merrion House and another central Leeds location (transitional accommodation site). Hybrid working is available.
As the Afghan Resettlement Project Support Officer at Migration Yorkshire, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals and families arriving in the Yorkshire and Humber region through the Afghan Resettlement Programme (ARP). You will be an integral part of the Migration Yorkshire team, helping to ensure that people rebuilding their lives here are met with high-quality, compassionate support. Your work will directly contribute to our wider mission: achieving the most positive outcomes of migration for communities and residents across Yorkshire and the Humber.

About You
As Afghan Resettlement Project Support Officer, you will bring to the role:
Experience of working in a project support or similar role.
Good understanding of the culture and political situation of Afghanistan.
Experience of working in partnership with others to deliver work to set deadlines.
Experienced and highly competent user of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and email software.

Job description:
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Project Support Officer be part of the team which welcomes new arrivals into Yorkshire and Humber through the Afghan Resettlement Programme (ARP) Regional Pathfinder. The role will include supporting Afghan households during their initial weeks of settlement in the UK and working collaboratively with a wide network of partners.
This post is part of the ARP Regional Pathfinder pilot which is being funded by Central Government.
The Regional Pathfinder welcomes new arrival Afghan households and provides a comprehensive package of initial integration support as people adapt to life in Yorkshire and Humber. Alongside frontline advice and housing support, the Regional Pathfinder supports families as they move on into settled accommodation. The Regional Pathfinder will also produce research to inform future resettlement initiatives.
The project is managed by Migration Yorkshire and delivered across the Yorkshire and Humber region through a partnership of statutory and voluntary sector organisations.

Responsibilities
Welcome and support newly arrived Afghan households on their journey from port of entry in the UK into transitional accommodation.
Assist with developing and translating welcome information for newly arrived Afghans in two or more of the following languages: Dari, Farsi and Pashto.
Provide advice, information and signposting to newly arrived Afghans in English and two or more of the following languages: Dari, Farsi and Pashto. This includes delivering group briefings on specific elements of life in the UK.
Develop and maintain good working relationships with project partners and other external organisations and stakeholders to support the successful delivery of the project and other aspects of Migration Yorkshire's work.
Assist with conducting surveys and consultations in English, Dari, Farsi and/or Pashto.
Develop and manage electronic and paper recording and filing systems. Input data, check data quality and implement retention and delegation schedules, to ensure that the project is monitored, measured, recorded and reported accurately.
Prepare, produce and present high quality reports and statistical information relating to performance and monitoring.
Provide support for events and training sessions, for example booking venues, arranging refreshments, liaising with attendees, producing presentations, training materials or delegate packs and ensuring everything runs smoothly on the day.
Work with others to ensure our documents meet accessibility standards
Provide excellent customer service to all stakeholders.
Respect the sensitive and confidential nature of the work. Follow good practice in data protection.
Provide occasional cover for other team members as required, commensurate with the grade.
Be responsive to the needs of the Migration Yorkshire team and support colleagues as required.
Able and willing to undertake occasional travel across Yorkshire and Humber, and regular journeys to collect new arrivals from airports around the UK.

Qualifications
5 GCSEs including English and Maths at grade A*-C (or equivalent).
A vocational qualification (hold a degree or diploma minimum QCF Level 6) or equivalent professional experience in translation and/or interpreting in 2 or more of the following languages: Dari, Farsi and/or Pashto.

Enthusiastic about the integration of migrants and about ensuring that the Yorkshire and Humber region benefits from migration.
Experience of developing and maintaining spreadsheets and databases for project/ performance monitoring.
Have an understanding of data protection and be committed to working in a way that ensures confidentiality and the appropriate handling of personal data.
Desirable Requirements
Recent experience of work involving writing and/or translating materials in English, Dari, Farsi and/or Pashto.
Knowledge of the UK immigration system and the routes for Afghan nationals to come to the UK.
