ALS is seeking an experienced and commercially minded IT Manager for the UK & Ireland to act as the strategic link between the business and IT. This role combines strong stakeholder engagement with hands-on operational responsibility, ensuring IT services are reliable, compliant and closely aligned to business needs across UK & Ireland locations. You will be a trusted partner to local leadership, accountable for day-to-day IT operations while collaborating with regional and global IT teams to support ALS’s mission of delivering data-driven insights for a safer and healthier world. About the Position Days Per Week: Monday to Friday Basis: Permanent and Full Time Hiring Manager: Scott Connor Closing Date: Monday 16th February 2026 The Day to Day Act as the primary IT point of contact for UK & Ireland business stakeholders Build strong relationships with the business, translating operational needs into effective IT services and improvements Provide Level 3 desktop support and ensure high-quality end-user computing services Manage location-based IT operations, including IT asset lifecycle management, printers, conference room AV and IT liaison for lab equipment Coordinate IT support for office builds, moves and changes (BMC), including infrastructure and end-user set-up Deliver hands-and-feet support for infrastructure teams, including hardware installations, patching and server room activities Manage local IT operational budgets, procurement and cost optimisation Oversee relationships with local IT vendors and service providers, monitoring SLAs and service performance Ensure compliance with global IT standards, internal policies and external regulations, supporting audits and risk assessments Maintain accurate operational documentation and reporting Lead and mentor local IT support resources and collaborate closely with regional and global IT, infrastructure, applications, cybersecurity and project teams The Essentials Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration or a related discipline Minimum of 2 years’ experience in IT operations, service management or business relationship management Strong working knowledge of ITIL, IT service management and infrastructure support Proven experience managing site-based IT operations and engaging with business stakeholders Excellent communication, problem-solving and organisational skills Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on operational delivery Desirable certifications: ITIL Foundation (or higher) BRMP (Business Relationship Management Professional) PMP or PRINCE2 ISO/IEC 20000 (or equivalent) Key competencies: Strategic thinking and stakeholder engagement Operational excellence and service delivery Budget and vendor management Strong collaboration and leadership skills Our Benefits Include Annual Leave commencing at 25 days (rising to 30) plus 8 public holidays (pro rata for part time) Ability to Buy annual leave.
