The Role
As a Senior Reliability and Maintainability Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Working as part of the prestigious Skynet programme, the UK’s secure military satellite communications system, you’ll have a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity, performance, and continuous improvement of mission-critical systems that support UK defence operations globally.
Day-to-day, you’ll lead and evolve our defect and reliability management processes through DRACAS (Data Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action System).
1. Lead the DRACAS process across the Skynet programme, ensuring timely and accurate defect reporting, analysis, and resolution.
2. Collaborate with engineering, quality, and project teams to identify root causes and implement corrective/preventive actions.
3. Maintain and develop DRACAS tools and databases, ensuring data integrity and traceability.
4. Generate and present reliability and trend analysis reports to internal stakeholders and the customer.
5. Drive a culture of continuous improvement and reliability excellence across the programme.
6. Support audits, reviews, and customer engagements related to reliability and defect management.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with predominantly working from home, however you will be required on site once a week to access data.
Essential Experience of the Senior Reliability and Maintainability Engineer
7. Experience managing DRACAS or similar defect tracking systems in a complex engineering environment.
8. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret technical data and trends.
9. Experience of a broad range of Maintenance Management Systems e.g SAP, IFS, JAMES, GoldESP.
10. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Qualifications for the Senior Reliability and Maintainability Engineer
11. Minimum HND or equivalent experience in Mechanical, Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
