Job Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative, and compassionate Assistant Psychologist to join the Staff Psychology Team at North Bristol NHS Trust as part of our award‑winning trust‑wide Staff Wellbeing Service.
Responsibilities
* Work in close liaison with psychologists and the admin service, providing a flexible support role and short‑notice cross‑cover to maintain smooth running of the department.
* Coordinate and deliver workshops, courses, bespoke team work and other initiatives (e.g. Staff Trauma Support Pathway, ACT for Wellbeing course, Staff approach to fostering team wellbeing).
* Develop and maintain creative, engaging, and accessible staff information resources in partnership with psychologists and the admin team.
* Maintain information on the Staff Psychology intranet pages.
* Undertake supervised clinical work (1:1, group, or team sessions) as agreed with the designated supervisor.
* Facilitate and coordinate ‘Breathing Space’, our drop‑in mindfulness sessions for healthcare staff, managing individual distress and group dynamics under clinical supervision.
* Support assessment and evaluation processes by preparing, administering, and analysing self‑reported questionnaire measures and key performance indicators; maintain databases and reports for clinical, audit, and research activities, and prepare quarterly reports with the support manager.
* Co‑develop team assessment and summary reports as part of bespoke team work.
Qualifications
Essential Criteria
* Undergraduate Degree in Psychology (1st or 2.1).
* At least 6 months post‑degree NHS experience as a psychology assistant (band 4/5) or other relevant post‑degree work experience within applied psychology e.g. research assistant.
* Experience delivering 1:1 or group psychological interventions under the supervision of a clinical psychologist.
* Compassionate and skilled communicator.
Desirable Criteria
* Some experience in using approaches that foster staff wellbeing.
