Paediatric Specialist Epilepsy Nurse (Training Post)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, enthusiastic band 6 Paediatric Epilepsy Nurse, to join our dynamic and progressive Paediatric Epilepsy Team at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be part of a highly motivated multi-disciplinary team which provides a comprehensive epilepsy service to children, young people, and their families. This team is well established and provides inpatient and outpatient services across two hospital sites, as well as community support. We have links with London hospitals and offer a comprehensive training pathway for children and families, including transition care to adult services.
You will work with an experienced Paediatric Epilepsy Nurse Specialist Band 8a. You will be responsible for your own caseload of children at Tunbridge Wells Hospital, running clinics once trained and competent. You may also work at Maidstone Hospital as needed. You will collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary team, including Dietitians, Psychologists, and Consultant Paediatricians. Regular multi-disciplinary team meetings and inpatient and community support are part of the role. Delivering education to children, families, schools, and inpatient staff will be a key aspect of your role.
Main duties of the job
You will contribute to epilepsy network groups and service development. Non-medical prescribing would be advantageous, but we are happy to support the completion of this module for the right candidate.
We seek a candidate with excellent communication skills and a commitment to continuous professional development, capable of working autonomously and within an interdisciplinary team, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines without compromising care. Applicants not meeting band 6 criteria may be considered for a Band 5 training post if no suitable Band 6 applicants apply.
We support flexible working, and there is a free shuttle bus between hospital sites. For more information or to arrange an informal visit, please contact Rochelle Gilder at 07743817218 or rochellegilder@nhs.net.
