Lead Engineer - Manufacturing St Albans, Hertfordshire Up to £55,000 per annum Monday to Friday, 8am-4pm The Opportunity A hands-on and forward-thinking Lead Engineer is required to take responsibility for engineering operations across modern packaging and manufacturing lines within a growing, highly regulated business. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong technical background who also thrives in leadership, planning, and continuous improvement. The role involves leading and developing a small but growing engineering team, overseeing daily maintenance, troubleshooting, and long-term reliability of equipment and systems across both Manufacturing and Packaging departments. Key Responsibilities for the lead engineer Provide hands-on engineering support across all machinery, equipment, and plant. Lead, supervise, and develop a team of Engineers and Technicians. Plan and coordinate daily tasks, shift schedules, and preventative maintenance Troubleshoot and perform reactive maintenance to reduce downtime. Deliver continuous improvement projects using lean and agile manufacturing methods. Liaise with external suppliers and manage service contracts and equipment upgrades.
