What's involved with this role: Interim Children’s Social Worker x5 - Children’s Services Reference no: Redcar 7622714861403 Pay rate: £157.41 per day PAYE Hours per week: 35-37 Monday to Friday, normal working hours This opening assignment is for 3 months City: REDCAR Enhanced DBS required for this role BPSS Check The purpose of this role is to provide a comprehensive social work service within the post holders area of responsibility in accordance with best practice and current legislation. Social workers in Children’s Services work with our most vulnerable children, young people and families. Their expertise supports families, helps keep children safe and enables them both to thrive. Key responsibilities: Undertake appropriate levels of assessments of need in line with national guidance, legislation, Social Work England codes of practice alongside departmental policies/procedures and guidance. Develop and implement plans to meet the assessed needs of children to undertake the role of allocated worker. Work in partnership with Children, Families, and carers in the assessment, planning and review of services. Work in partnership with other departments within the local authority, other statutory, voluntary, and independent agencies. Ensure that professional standards and practice are maintained and that responsibility for practice and decision making is undertaken commensurate with the level of experience, knowledge, and grade. Be able to recognise safeguarding situations and report through agreed processes to enable appropriate action to be taken. F Grades to undertake ASYE programme. Undertake such duties as may be commensurate with the seniority of the post. Ensure that the Council’s corporate Health & Safety policy is followed, and training is undertaken in all pertinent health and safety procedures. Partake in the Council’s and Directorate’s staff training and development policies as well as the Council’s system of performance appraisal. Working towards to successful completion of ASYE within the first year of employment. Current Social Work England Registration. Relevant post graduate qualification e.g., Practice Educator/Best Interest Assessor/Achieving Best Evidence. Full driving licence and own vehicle with business insurance. Experience: Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation. Understanding of department policies and procedures including Equal Opportunity policy and the ability to comply with these. Evidence of recent working with vulnerable children and families. Experience of production of focused, and jargon free written case notes and reports, supported by clear analysis and a sound rationale for actions. Skills & Abilities: Effective communication skills (written and verbal). Organisational and time management skills. Able to undertake analysis and make realistic, child centred, plans within timescales which will manage and reduce identified risks and provide support which meets the needs of the child. Ability to develop and implement plans and provide /coordinate services to meet assessed need, demonstrating good interpersonal skills. Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
