Our Role
As part of the Editorial team and the wider Marketing team, you will play a key role in refining and polishing all customer-facing copy across marketing channels – flexibly, swiftly, accurately and to deadline. You will also produce copy relating to our home, fragrance and children’s ranges, becoming the editorial team’s expert, reporting to the Senior Managing Editor and supporting the editorial team with other copy requirements, as required.
What you'll be doing
1. Be responsible for producing our product copy for home, bedroom, fragrance and children’s – principally for website but also including packaging and labelling.
2. Work closely with Retail Graphic Designers on seasonal POS (point of sale) copy for in-store signage and messaging
3. In response to trade, work closely with the wider teams to deliver copy updates to website landing pages, help pages and service messaging, as well as updating sub-category banners on a seasonal and weekly basis and PLP and CLP copy in line with SEO recommendations.
4. Develop close working relationships with the Buying team, liaising with them for briefing and copy requirements in all categories, and work with the Web Set-up team to deliver product copy in line with the critical path.
5. Collaborate closely with copywriters to maintain brand standards and voice across all content.
6. Ensure all content aligns with legal, compliance and accessibility guidelines.
7. Fact-check product details, prices and other key information to ensure accuracy.
8. Suggest improvements to enhance readability, flow and engagement.
9. Work closely with the Copy Assistant to proof product copy and ensure output is accurate and in line with brand tone of voice.
10. Maintain and update the brand style guide as needed.
11. Under the guidance of the Senior Managing Editor, contribute ideas to, and assist in the execution of, a seasonal editorial plan across all channels.
What skills and experience that you’ll need
12. Proven experience in writing copy for product descriptions and packaging ideally within lifestyle or retail sectors.
13. Exceptional command of English grammar, spelling, punctuation and a strong eye for detail.
14. Understanding of brand tone and ability to maintain consistent voice.
15. Ability to write brand centric, engaging commercial and creative copy.
16. Ability to write to a tight brief/word count/deadline.
17. Ideally, some digital and commercial experience, or be versatile and open to learn.
18. Ideally some knowledge of Digital CMS Amplience.
19. Collaborative mindset, with excellent communication skills.
20. Familiarity with SEO best practices is a plus.
21. Highly organised and diligent with a capacity to work on multiple projects at the same time.
22. An intuitive understanding of the brand and how to communicate it.
23. A positive, can-do attitude with the ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively across teams and departments.
24. A self-starter and problem solver with lots of initiative.
25. The ability to work proactively in a fast-paced environment, and good time-management skills.
