Your new role
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced permanent, full-time Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic, innovative, and inclusive Occupational Therapy Team at Southend City Council.OTs at level 8 assess referrals into the OT team for equipment and adaptations and housing needs, to allow safe management of adults in themunity. OT's assess peoples' functional needs in their own homes and set plans and goals alongside the person to help them ovee identified difficulties using a range of advice, signposting, equipment and adaptations. This post is to support delivery of OT housing applications and is an essential role within the housing policy.
What you'll need to succeed
It is essential that you have a qualification in Occupational Therapy (Diploma/Bachelor/Master’s degree), registration with the HCPC and amitment to the standards and ethics of the College of Occupational Therapists.You will need to be an enthusiastic and passionate occupational therapist who has a range of skills and knowledge which enables you to work effectively with our residents.Skills

2. The ability to develop close working relationships with themunity and local services/providers
3. Ability to work in a team and engage and participate within each service area.
4. Robust clinical reasoning in line with evidence-based practice
5. Ability to carry out strength-based and proportionate assessments
6. A willingness to learn and develop yourself and bring your ideas to the table
Knowledge
7. Robust understanding of the Care Act 2014 and how this applies to your assessment, intervention and oues.
8. Understanding of Safeguarding within the Care Act and the Mental Capacity Act 2005
9. Broad knowledge of medical conditions and how they impact the person and their life experience.
10. Familiarity with moving and handling practices and legislation
11. Understanding of the Social Model of Disability and occupational therapy within a social service setting.
