 
        
        Overview
The Environment Agency is seeking a fixed‑term Energy Advisor (Senior) to support regulation of combustion plants, waste incineration, and refineries. The role will be up to 2 years and is based in Birmingham, with some travel required.
Responsibilities
 * Provide expert support and technical leadership through advice, guidance, and training.
 * Develop strategy for the energy sectors and produce tools to regulate, support development and deliver environmental outcomes.
 * Commission and manage external research projects where needed.
 * Work with internal and external stakeholders such as Defra, DESNZ, internal operations teams, trade associations and other key industry players.
 * Respond to incidents and provide business continuity support during an incident.
Qualifications & Experience
 * Ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and actively encourage consideration of diversity issues.
 * Relevant technical and regulatory knowledge, and experience in regulating combustion plants, waste incineration or refineries; including knowledge of control measures for emissions to air.
 * Ability to build and maintain good relationships with colleagues, operators, partner regulators, government, trade bodies, and academia.
 * Cooperative team working to achieve common goals.

Contract & Salary
Length of contract: Up to 2 years.
