JOB PROFILE
* To actively participate in the development and provision of outpatient pain services through evidence-based practice.
* To develop, implement and maintain high quality and safe systems for the effective management of patients in the Pain Management Centre and maintain associated records.
* Work in partnership with patients, families, and members of the multi-disciplinary team, to best meet the needs and wellbeing of patients and ensure the delivery of high-quality evidence-based care to patients undergoing specialist interventional procedures in the outpatient department.
* To independently assess patient care needs when attending the Pain Management Centre outpatient service, including those patients attending pre‑screening and post‑intervention appointments and effectively manage the patients contact help line.
* Provide supervision and support to other members of the multi‑disciplinary team and visiting healthcare professionals as needed.
* To assist in the development and continuation of audit and research projects within the outpatient department.
* To act the Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS) for the outpatient department and be responsible for ensuring compliance with local and Trust wide policy in line with national IR(ME)R regulations (2017).
* To act as mentor and line manager to junior members of staff where indicated.
Qualifications – Essential
* Registered Nurse (Part 1, 8, 12 or 15 of the Nursing and Midwifery Council Register depending on area of practice) or National Certification in area of practice.
* UK recognised Degree in Nursing relevant to post.
* Evidence of ongoing professional development through maintenance of an NMC revalidation or equivalent.
* Solid acute care registered nurse experience.
* Evidence of achievement on a Nursing and Midwifery (NMC) approved Mentorship qualification.
Desirable Criteria
* Proven clinical knowledge linked to area of specialty, and excellence in care delivery.
* Post‑graduate qualification related to an area of practice or working towards or equivalent relevant experience.
* Knowledgeable of skills needed to deliver a high standard of care in the area of practice.
* Demonstrates awareness of importance of working as part of a team.
* Competent to administer intravenous medicines, excellent communication skills.
* Previous evidence of leadership within practice and the multi‑disciplinary team.
* Previous experience of managing clinical incidents and complaints.
* Previous substantive management experience of outpatient clinical area, demonstrates ability to keep up to date with professional issues that influence nursing practice relating to the area of clinical practice, management education and research.
* Able to identify own learning needs and ensure own professional development is maintained by keeping up to date with practice developments.
* Able to lead the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of policies/protocols/guidelines relevant to area of practice.
* Must have appropriate UK professional registration.

This full-time position is 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 08:00-16:00 hrs.
