About the Role
Reporting to the Operations Manager (with a dotted line to Finance), you will:
1. Ensure customer order requirements are met for manufactured and factored products.
2. Deliver capacity planning to keep production running at optimal levels.
3. Collaborate across departments to align purchasing with operational needs.
4. Lead, coach, and motivate a team, setting priorities and ensuring performance targets are achieved.
This is a hands-on strategic role, giving you the chance to shape procurement processes, optimise supplier relationships, and drive continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement & Supplier Management
5. Develop and execute sourcing strategies for raw materials, parts, and equipment.
6. Identify, qualify, and negotiate with suppliers to ensure quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
7. Monitor supplier performance and resolve delivery, quality, or compliance issues.
8. Maintain accurate records of purchases, inventory, and supplier evaluations.
9. Analyse market trends to anticipate supply risks and cost fluctuations.
10. Communication & Collaboration
11. Maintain clear, consistent communication with internal teams and external partners.
12. Clarify order queries and advise of any significant changes to plans.
13. Provide reporting on performance metrics, including supplier KPIs and stock levels.
Team Leadership & Development
14. Allocate and prioritise tasks, motivate, and support your team.
15. Manage performance, recognising talent and addressing underperformance.
16. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration across departments.
17. Compliance & Standards
18. Ensure adherence to health, safety, environmental, and quality standards (ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO45001).
What We're Looking For
19. Proven experience as a procurement manager, ideally in manufacturing or industrial sectors.
20. Strong knowledge of procurement, supply chain management, and vendor negotiation.
21. Familiarity with manufacturing materials (e.g., metals, plastics, electronics) and production timelines.
22. Proficiency with ERP systems and procurement software.
23. Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
24. CIPS or APICS certification (or equivalent) is a plus.
