Job Description
We are currently seeking an interim Laboratory Coordinator to work with our global FMCG client Unilever, renowned for brands such as Dove, Sure, Persil, and Simple. This role offers an opportunity to become an integral part of their fast-paced FMCG environment.
The position is based at our client's scientific Research & Development facility in Port Sunlight Village, Wirral, easily accessible by train and car. This is a full-time temporary role for 12 months, requiring 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. The compensation is competitive, up to £30,000 per annum, pro rata, depending on experience.
Role overview:
Coordination and preparation of fragrance evaluations on behalf of the HC Fragrance Team, ensuring standard and safe operating practices.
Duties include:
Coordination
* Work closely with fragrance experts to plan upcoming fragrance evaluations, book necessary facilities, prepare test cloths, and manage sample orders.
* Maintain stock levels for ballast loads and monitors, ordering as needed.
* Manage the benchmark and fragrance oil libraries, keeping them up to date and registering products in the database and LIMS.
* Represent the fragrance team in weekly meetings to ensure smooth operations and cost efficiency.
* Handle visitor bookings, catering, and meeting room arrangements.
Preparation
* Complete Job Sheets with appropriate protocols and test requirements.
* Order benchmark products and log test samples into the database.
Preparation of fabrics
* Ensure quality and adherence to best practices in fabric preparation, including desizing, labelling, and making ballast loads.
Preparation of samples
* Weigh and label washing and fabric samples accurately.
Performing test washes
* Conduct machine and hand washes following protocols, sort test monitors, and prepare cloths for assessment.
Recovery and maintenance
* Recover ballast loads for reuse, track usage, and clean sample jars for re-use.
Other responsibilities
* Track monthly project costs, report to line manager, and suggest process improvements.
Safety
* Create and maintain SOPs and risk assessments, report safety issues, and handle sample dispatch and disposal in compliance with health and safety standards.
Requirements
* Awareness of safety procedures, including SOPs and risk assessments.
* Ability to work effectively in a team.
* Strong organizational skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
