About Tyler Grange

At TG, we value innovation over convention; the usual route isn’t always our chosen path. We care deeply and celebrate loudly. Our Tribe supports each other through work and play, and we’re always looking for the next big opportunity. Every day here is a blend of meaningful work, genuine laughs and honest conversations.

We also believe in giving back and offer a 4‑day working week on a 5‑day salary – that’s 80% of your time for 100% pay. Your journey at TG is enriched by the amazing people you’ll work alongside, both within and outside of our Tribe. We cheer on our mates, cherish our clients, and sprinkle goodness back into our communities. If you’re looking for a place where people genuinely enjoy what they do and who they do it with – TG might just be your next home.

Associate – Ecology (Birmingham)

Location: Birmingham

What You Will Be Doing

Tyler Grange are seeking to recruit a dynamic, commercial and operational Team Lead for our Birmingham Ecology team, encompassing our Birmingham office and working closely with our Northern Ecology team in Manchester and Leeds. You will work closely and collaboratively with the Operational Leads for Manchester and Leeds, the South West and London, under the leadership of the Regional Ecology Directors for the North and South. You’ll also work alongside technical leads and wider business functions to deliver the Ecology strategy.

This role suits someone with excellent communication and people management skills, strong attention to detail, and who thrives in a fast‑paced, supportive and fun working environment. A proven track record in the ecology or planning industry, with experience in leadership, team management, pipeline review and an interest in sales and business development, will be key to success.

Key Responsibilities

* Work with the Regional Ecology Director (North) to deliver targets for the Birmingham Ecology team as part of the annual Ecology Strategy and wider TG business strategy.
* Support the Northern Ecology team in analysing operational data, including pipeline, opportunities and sales actions.
* Collaborate with the Regional Ecology Director (North) on HR decision‑making (in liaison with the TG HR Lead), recruitment, and partner (subcontractor) use.
* Work closely with the central resource coordination team to ensure efficient delivery of workload across the working area.
* Partner with Technical Leads to ensure appropriate technical support is in place, identifying strategies to address skills gaps and regional requirements.
* Complete the monthly Operations Report for the Birmingham Ecology team.
* Work collaboratively with other office operational leads to problem‑solve and support project and pipeline delivery.
* Work with regional sales representatives to ensure sales actions align to the wider sales strategy and the Birmingham Ecology team’s operational and technical needs.
* Provide project support as both Project Manager and Project Director, helping to mentor and support junior project managers on large or complex projects.

What We're Looking For

* Can act as a proactive leader for the Birmingham Ecology team and mentor project managers across Ecology.
* Is a confident communicator who embodies our values: Honesty, Caring, Belonging, Opportunity and Enjoyment.
* Holds an academic qualification in ecology or biological sciences.
* Has excellent attention to detail, with the ability to analyse data, identify solutions and review written work to a high standard.
* Demonstrates strong understanding of the legislative and planning policy framework relevant to our industry.
* Is enthusiastic, engaging and able to build positive relationships with peers, contacts and clients.
* Shows a commitment to excellence, including innovating how we deliver for clients and exploring new sectors.
* Is a full member of CIEEM, or a Chartered Ecologist / working toward Chartership.
* Holds a full UK driving licence.

Salary

Tyler Grange operates a transparent pay structure with fixed pay points within each grade. Salary will depend on experience and suitability for the role, aligned to the Associate pay points.

* Associate A: £55,960
* Associate B: £60,000

These pay points reflect our 2026 salary banding. All pay points are reviewed annually (next review: December 2026) to consider inflation and other relevant changes.

Movement between pay points is possible by demonstrating progression against targets at our twice‑annual reviews (Spring and Autumn). Benefits associated with this grade can be discussed further if selected for interview.
