About us
Buckinghamshire Council is a relatively new organisation that combines the strengths and expertise of the previous five councils in the county to create positive change for local people, communities, and businesses. We are firmly focused on the future and have made a clear commitment to serve residents better and to provide stronger representation for Buckinghamshire, both locally and nationally.
About the role
As a Cleaner, you’ll play an important part in maintaining a high‑quality environment that meets COSHH standards. Working largely independently, you will ensure cleaning tasks are completed thoroughly, safely and on time.
Key responsibilities include:
4. Carrying out daily cleaning tasks such as vacuuming, mopping, dusting, polishing and emptying bins
5. Cleaning all rooms including toilets, bathrooms, kitchens and frequently touched areas to infection control standards
6. Using cleaning equipment and hazardous products safely and storing them correctly
7. Maintaining cleaning equipment in good working order
8. Following instructions, schedules and safety procedures accurately
9. Interacting with clients, colleagues and visitors in a calm, helpful and professional manner
10. Sharing ideas or concerns to help improve the service
Fixed
As a ‘fixed’ worker, you’ll spend most of your time in the same location, which will likely be a fixed office or location where your role is performed. Typically, you’ll be based in the same location as the rest of your team, because you provide a particular service from that fixed location or need access to information there.
About you
You’ll be reliable, organised and take pride in your work. You’re happy working independently, manage your time well and always strive to maintain high standards.
You’ll ideally have:
11. Previous experience in a cleaning role
12. Knowledge of COSHH regulations, cleaning standards and infection control
13. Good attention to detail and a thorough approach to tasks
14. The ability to follow written and verbal instructions clearly
15. A flexible and proactive attitude
16. Good communication skills
