This is a strategic role, focused on two exciting categories based around laboratory services and equipment. You’ll work alongside world-class scientists and stakeholders across the Institute to deliver cutting-edge research through smart, sustainable procurement.
About the Role
As a Procurement Partner, you’ll be a trusted advisor across the business, combining market knowledge, commercial insight, and strategic thinking to deliver real value.
* Develop, own, and deliver category strategies.
* Provide market intelligence and commercial analysis to support decision-making.
* Build and maintain supplier relationships that foster collaboration, innovation, and resilience.
* Lead sourcing projects and manage complex negotiations.
* Act as a strategic partner to senior stakeholders.
* Line manage Category Buyer(s), contributing to the leadership of the Procurement function.
* Continuously improve ways of working, embedding efficiency, governance, and pragmatic solutions.
About You
You’re an experienced procurement professional with strong category management expertise, ideally in scientific or technical areas. With a proactive and solution-focused mindset, you’ll connect market insight with organisational strategy while building trusted relationships at every level.
Essential Skills Include
* Proven track record in procurement/category management.
* Strong market knowledge and ability to turn insight into strategy.
* Expertise in supplier relationship management and value creation.
* Skilled negotiator with experience handling complex discussions.
* Data analysis and clear communication of recommendations.
* Organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
* Strong understanding of commercial risk and contracts.
* Adaptable, self-motivated, and confident in dynamic environments.
