Job Description:
Purpose:
Provision of all-round Compliance/HVAC Engineer, maintaining all the R&D buildings and infrastructure. Must have a detailed understanding & knowledge of all current Building Service Systems and contingency procedures, which comply with Health & Safety & Codes of Practice.
It is the Compliance/HVAC Engineer's role to support the Contract Manager by being the dedicated Compliance/HVAC engineer for the R&D/Office Building and an integral member of the team delivering engineering excellence across the full spectrum of services, as well as assisting the wider team and client with tasks outside of the Compliance/HVAC expertise but within capabilities when required.
The job is 40 hours per week, with site hours from 06:00 to 17:00, split into early/late shifts. Out of hours work may be required for statutory maintenance, permitting, escorting, and an on-call rota of 1 in 4 on average.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Operate all systems within the buildings competently, effectively, and efficiently.
* Issue relevant site Permits as part of the Safe System of Work.
* Be responsible for Compliance onsite, especially CAFM system and processes related to HVAC/Pressure systems.
* Complete PPM and Reactive Tasks, and update the electronic workflow system to keep records compliant.
* Ensure daily checks are completed and report defects via the FM helpdesk.
* Identify and order materials required for timely installation.
* Comply with statutory and company health, safety, and environmental regulations and policies.
* Review and sign off Specialist Service Provider worksheets, inspect work quality, and escalate recommendations to the Supervisor.
* Maintain high standards of housekeeping in plant areas, workshops, stores, and rest areas.
The Engineer will troubleshoot all building systems, including:
* Electrical and general fabric repairs
* Small plumbing repairs
* Building Management Systems & Electrical Monitoring
* Air Handling, Air Conditioning & Chillers (Training given)
* Domestic Water Services & Plumbing
* Pumps, Motors & Variable Speed Drives
* Previous experience in a compliance role is an advantage
Skills:
* Approved apprenticeship or relevant experience in Building fabric/plumbing services
* Excellent communication skills to interact with staff and customers
* Recognised qualification in Fabric/Plumbing engineering
* Experience with Building Management Systems (Trend); training provided
* Intermediate computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook); PDA & Tablet use
* Self-motivated, able to work independently and in a team
* Strong numeracy and literacy skills, report writing experience
* Adaptable, capable of working outside of their trade within their capabilities
Qualifications:
* C&G or equivalent in Electrical/Mechanical/HVAC Engineering
* 18th Edition Electrical Qualification
* Knowledge of current Health and Safety legislation relevant to safe working practices
* Good organizational and computer skills
