Our client, a leading Further Education College, seeks an experienced construction professional to join their senior management team as Assistant Head of Department for Multi-Skills & Trowel Trades.
Shape construction education across study programmes, apprenticeships, and adult learning while leading a dynamic team across Cambridge and Huntingdon campuses.
The Role
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist Head of Department in curriculum development and delivery oversight
2. Manage staff and resources across both campuses
3. Lead quality assurance and drive performance improvements
4. Support recruitment, retention, and student progression
5. Develop industry partnerships and work experience opportunities
6. Oversee timetabling, course delivery, and assessment processes
7. Line manage teaching and technical staff
Essential Requirements
8. Qualifications: Level 5+ teaching qualification (DET, DTLLS, Cert Ed, or PGCE)
9. Experience: Recent FE teaching experience with construction industry background
10. Leadership: Team management or supervisory experience
11. Skills: IQA Award (or working towards), current Health & Safety knowledge
12. Other: Enhanced DBS clearance, ability to travel between campuses
Desirable: Management qualification, Assessor Award, construction qualifications, data analysis experience
