The Foyle Food Group is looking to employ a Technical Assistant within our site based in Campsie Co Londonderry
The Technical Assistant will report directly to the Technical Manager and will be part of a busy Technical team. The successful candidate will be responsible for upholding food safety and quality procedures.
Hours of operation for the role are generally between 8am – 4.30pm Monday to Friday. With occasional cover for 6am -2:30pm required and occasional cover required for Saturday operations.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Monitoring and verification of quality control checks ensuring compliance with customer specifications.
· Carrying out GMP audits against Food Safety and Quality Policies and Procedures
· Carrying out Fabrication and Glass and Plastic audits against Food Safety and Quality Policies and Procedures
· Coordinate actions for non-conformances with relevant teams to effectively implement corrective and preventative actions.
· Training of operatives in relation to food safety and quality requirements
· Assisting with external audits such as BRCGS, Red Tractor, Bord Bia etc.
· Assisting with completing export product checks and paperwork
· Complete designated tasks as defined in the quality management and HACCP system.
Essential Criteria:
· Food Related Qualification or proven related experience
· Knowledge of HACCP principles
· IT Literate
· Excellent organisation and communication skills
· Competent in record keeping
· Motivated with ability to work on own initiative
· Ability to work in a pressurised environment, with a can-do attitude and commitment to safety
· Flexibility towards working hours
Desirable Criteria:
· Previous experience working in a food processing or retail-packing environment
· Previous experience or working knowledge of red meat products
· Experience of BRC and/or Retailer audits
