JOB PURPOSE:
Assisting the Financial Accountant with the management accounting and month end process for the overheads of Energy Portfolio (excluding Canada).
Responsibility for the financial reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
Ownership of Bank Reconciliation for UK, Asia, Canada, and Nigeria.
Working with the Financial Accountant to improve business efficiency through use of financial systems and management information.
Involved in the training of the finance intern each year.
Maintaining a strong financial management and control environment with appropriate processes.
To progress through professional exams to become a qualified accountant if desired.
Ad-hoc projects as required.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Description
• Support Financial Accountant with preparation of monthly overhead management accounts including but not limited to; cost control, revenue reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, variance analysis
• Daily, weekly, and monthly bank and system reconciliations and reporting to stakeholders Mo
• Ownership of selected Overhead trackers ensuring spend is up to date with actuals from system and any variances that occur are highlighted, investigated, and resolved in a timely manner
• Reconciliation of various of intercompany accounts including settlements and clearing down
• Support the Financial Accountant on the budgeting and forecasting process for overheads across the Energy portfolio (excluding Canada);
• Posting of month-end journals relating to:
o Fixed Assets
o Prepayments
o Bank
o Shared Service Centre
o Overheads
o Accruals
o Reclassification
• Preparation of VAT returns, liaising with external VAT companies, VAT ad hoc queries and VAT reconciliations within system
• Ensuring a strong, financial control environment is maintained and that DMG Energy Event policies are complied with
• Assist with training of the finance intern each year, gradually increasing their tasks to enable a smooth transition from one intern to the next
• Carry out any reasonable project work / ad hoc task as requested, including review of current practices to drive efficiencies and scalability
• Help maintain the accounting GL ensuring robust data quality
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:
Technical / Functional
• Minimum 4 years+ in an accounting environment
• Experience of using Finance system or similar GL System
• Comfortable with working with large volumes of data
• Hands on approach
• Willing to accept responsibility
• Able to multi-task and manage changing workloads and priorities
• Able to adapt to changing circumstances re-setting priorities as necessary
• Intermediate Excel skills such as Pivot Tables, Conditional Formatting as well as ability to organise data using SUMIF, COUNTIF and VLOOKUP
