Staff Nurse - Benjamin Weir Ward (Cardiac Surgery)

Main duties of the job

* We are a fantastic team of nurses who are looking for new team members either with or without post registration experience.
* We are committed to the development of our team and staff members and can provide you with lots of opportunities to develop your skills and knowledge, from Preceptorship and in-house training to university courses.
* We care for cardiac surgery and cardiology patients so you will have the opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills in both specialties.
* I am hoping you are keen, enthusiastic and looking for an opportunity to join a motivated, proactive and fun team of staff providing outstanding care to patients undergoing cardiac surgery.

Other services treat patients from all over the country, such as family HIV care and bone marrow transplantation for non-cancer diseases. Person Specification


Qualifications and Training

* Registered Nurse (general
* A minimum of 12 months post registration experience.


Organisational Management

* Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care according to individual needs.
* Ability to effectively prioritise workload and patient care needs.
* Demonstrates an understanding of managing resources
* Demonstrates an understanding of clinical risk
* Ability to take charge of the ward in the absence of the Ward Manager on a regular basis.


Education & Research

* Demonstrates an understanding of the importance of research and evidence based practice
* Recognise the importance of developing self and others
* Demonstrates an understanding of audit
* Ability to take on small research or audit project.
* Able to explain the principles of mentoring and assessing junior staff


General & Personal

* Motivated and demonstrates an enthusiasm for the speciality
* Demonstrates a caring and sensitive approach to patient care
* Adaptable and responsive to changing needs
* Ability to motivate and lead staff for a shift
