A highly regarded, multidisciplinary engineering consultancy with a national presence is looking to appoint a Sustainability Consultant to join their growing team in Bristol.
The business is widely recognised as an industry leader in sustainable design, with a Sustainability group embedded across every office in their network. Their approach is innovative and ambitious, operating at the forefront of environmental consultancy - from complex energy modelling and whole life carbon assessments through to BREEAM, WELL, and HQM certifications across a broad range of sectors and project types.
This is an excellent opportunity for a sustainability professional who is looking to join a practice where the discipline genuinely leads, rather than supports, design decision-making. The team is actively involved in industry research, technical development, and the authoring of guidance that shapes wider sector practice.
The Role
You will work across a varied portfolio of projects, taking a hands-on role in the delivery of sustainability strategies and environmental assessments from early design stages through to completion. Responsibilities will span:
Development and delivery of holistic sustainability strategies
Energy performance modelling and building performance simulation (including operational energy and overheating)
Embodied carbon calculations and circular economy consultancy
Production of planning documents including sustainability statements, energy statements, whole life carbon reports, and circular economy statements
Supporting the development of net zero carbon strategies for new and existing developments
Mentoring and supporting junior team members across workstream delivery
About You
Experience working within a sustainability or engineering consultancy in the built environment sector
Degree in engineering, environmental science, or a related discipline
Technical competence across one or more of: energy performance modelling (Part L, NABERS, ApacheHVAC, Passivhaus), whole life carbon assessment (OneClick or similar), or net zero carbon strategy
Strong communication skills with the ability to engage clients and design teams effectively
A genuine passion for sustainability and a drive to deliver real environmental outcomes
