Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Family Legal Aid Solicitor to join our team. The successful candidate will manage a caseload of publicly funded family law matters, providing high-quality legal advice and representation to clients, often in sensitive and complex circumstances.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage a varied caseload of family law matters under legal aid, including domestic abuse, child arrangements, care proceedings, and injunctions
* Provide clear, practical, and empathetic legal advice to clients
* Represent clients in court proceedings, including advocacy where appropriate
* Prepare legal documents, statements, and applications in a timely manner
* Ensure compliance with Legal Aid Agency requirements and maintain accurate case records
* Meet billing and performance targets in line with firm expectations
* Liaise with courts, counsel, experts, and external agencies
* Maintain high standards of client care and confidentiality
Requirements
* Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with a current practising certificate
* Experience handling family legal aid matters
* Strong knowledge of Legal Aid Agency rules and procedures
* Excellent advocacy and drafting skills
* Ability to manage a busy caseload independently
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills
* Commitment to delivering high-quality client care
Desirable
* Family Law Accreditation (e.g. Law Society Family Panel)
* Advocacy experience in family courts
* Experience in care proceedings
