Accept Recruitment is currently seeking a proactive and experienced Afternoon Shift Supervisor to join our client, a leading timber manufacturing business based in Coalville. The successful candidate will oversee daily operations during the afternoon shift, ensuring production targets are achieved while upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and team performance.
Key Responsibilities: Supervise and coordinate the activities of approximately 40 staff across production and quality control areas
Lead daily shift briefings, allocate tasks, and monitor team performance
Ensure production output meets set targets, quality standards, and customer requirements
Monitor workflow and adjust staffing/resources to meet deadlines efficiently
Enforce Health & Safety regulations and company policies
Provide on-the-job training, coaching, and support to both new and existing staff
Collaborate with other shift supervisors, managers, and departments to ensure seamless handovers
Maintain accurate shift reports, records, and relevant documentation
Identify and escalate any production issues, delays, or resource requirements promptly
Drive continuous improvement across team performance, productivity, and operational efficiency
Requirements: Previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing or production environment (timber industry experience is advantageous)
Strong leadership and team management skills
Confident in decision-making and workload prioritisation under pressure
Sound understanding of Health & Safety regulations and best practices
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Hands-on, proactive approach with strong problem-solving ability
Flexible and committed to ensuring smooth and efficient shift operations
Familiarity with manufacturing processes, including general machine operation and upkeep
