We are seeking an experienced facilities compliance expert to join our Property and Facilities team as a Facilities Compliance and Systems Advisor. The successful candidate will be based in Exeter on a hybrid basis, with occasional travel to our sites in Bristol and Surrey. This full-time, permanent role offers a salary of £38,000 - £42,000 per year plus benefits.
About the role:
The successful candidate will develop policies, procedures, contractual relationships, and management systems to promote, develop, and maintain legislative compliance across a portfolio of Pennon non-operational offices and depots. They will also establish and manage reporting mechanisms to provide weekly and monthly management information.
What you'll be doing:
* The primary responsibility is to ensure the safety of staff, visitors, and contractors at in-scope sites by managing compliance activities.
* Develop systems to ensure and maintain legislative compliance across areas such as Fire Safety, Water Hygiene, Asbestos, Lightning Protection, Working at Heights, F-Gas, Pressure Systems, and LOLER, including conducting a compliance requirement gap analysis.
* Create and implement Safe Systems of Work for all facilities management activities, including maintenance of M&E infrastructure, building fabric, and compliance works.
* Manage our CAFM (Computer Aided Facilities Management) System to ensure records are current.
* Maintain risk assessments to ensure legislative compliance and workforce safety, and lead initiatives to address identified issues.
* Manage external risk assessment providers as needed.
* Support the development and delivery of compliance training.
* Administer contracts related to FM and compliance activities.
* Update emergency evacuation procedures, fire risk assessments, and general risk assessments to meet legislative requirements.
* Ensure health and safety policies and standards are current and that safety equipment is available.
* Perform other relevant tasks to support business needs.
* Participate in FM on-call/standby rota.
What we are looking for:
* Hold or be willing to work towards NEBOSH General Certificate.
* BTEC/HNC (or equivalent) in a related field and/or demonstrable experience.
* Proven experience delivering technical projects on time and within budget.
* Experience with legislative compliance.
* Experience managing multiple site contracts.
* Experience managing budgets, targets, and efficiency savings (desirable).
* Up-to-date knowledge of workplace and Health & Safety legislation.
* Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships at all levels.
