My client, a leading provider of innovative scaffolding and temporary works solutions to the construction industry. Who specialise in delivering safe, efficient, and cost-effective design services for projects ranging from residential builds to large-scale commercial and industrial developments. As we continue to expand our capabilities, are seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineer to join their dynamic and collaborative team.
Role Overview
The Senior Engineer will play a key role in delivering high-quality scaffold and temporary works designs, providing technical leadership, and supporting the development of junior engineers. This role involves overseeing complex engineering projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and working closely with clients, contractors, and internal teams to provide expert technical solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design and checking of scaffolding, temporary works, and structural support systems in accordance with relevant standards and regulations.
Produce detailed engineering drawings, calculations, and technical documentation using industry-leading software.
Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and supervision to junior engineers and design technicians.
Collaborate closely with project managers, site teams, and clients to ensure design solutions are practical, safe, and cost-effective.
Carry out site visits to assess conditions, gather information, and provide technical support during installation and inspection stages.
Review and approve engineering calculations, risk assessments, and method statements.
Ensure all designs comply with company procedures, CDM regulations, TG20, BS5975, and other applicable codes of practice.
Identify opportunities to improve design efficiency, workflow processes, and engineering best practices.
Support business development by contributing to bids, proposals, and client meetings when required.
Required Skills & Experience
Bachelors degree (or higher) in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
Chartered or near-chartered status with ICE, IStructE, or an equivalent professional body (preferred).
Minimum 4+ years of experience in scaffolding, temporary works, or structural design.
Strong understanding of industry standards including TG20, BS5975, Eurocodes, and CDM regulations.
Proficiency in engineering design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Tekla, or scaffold-specific modelling tools.
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to produce and check engineering calculations.
Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-engineers.
Proven track record of managing multiple projects simultaneously and delivering work to tight deadlines.
A practical, hands-on approach with confidence conducting site visits and liaising with contractors.
