TECHNOLOGIST – NON-FOOD
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, committed person to join a successful team of entrepreneurs and manufacturers. We work with a diverse portfolio of retailers and supply innovative bespoke products within various non-food categories including laundry, cleaning and personal care.
The successful candidate will
liaise with senior technical personnel at both retailers and manufacturing partners. The successful candidate will have
responsibility for technical delivery of NPD projects; ensuring all technical due diligence elements of a project are completed to the satisfaction of our customers, ensuring products are legal, safe and meet customer expectation.
The role can be home based but will also involve travel to various locations in the UK to attend factory trials, pre-production and product launches and to meet with customers as and when needed. It is also expected that the successful candidate spends 2 to 3 days per week, at least initially, based on site at our manufacturing partner based on the Wirral.
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Technologist initially responsible for Household and Biocidal product development, compliance, and launch. This may extend to personal care at a later date.
· Collaborating with technical teams in UK (and potentially in the future in Asia) to ensure all technical aspects of a project are completed, for example safety assessments, product performance testing, regulatory compliance, and legal checks.
· Preparation of SADORP and customer product specifications and quality contracts with customers and manufacturing partners for quality assurance.
· Some laboratory work as and when needed – formulation creation, stability assessment, product performance testing.
· Daily point of contact for customer technical manager queries.
·
Checking technical elements of SADORP product artwork, packaging and labelling for compliance with relevant legislation.
· Working closely with the internal product and commercial teams to ensure all technical requirements are applied during the NPD process and new launches.
· Travel to various locations attending factory initial visits, development trials, pre-production and product launches.
· Review of SADORP production paperwork to release production batches for delivery.
· Investigate and report on SADORP customer complaints and non-conformances.
· Attend conferences, exhibitions and trade shows to keep on top of innovations and opportunities with new materials, production techniques or products.

EXPERIENCE
· Min of 2-5 years of technical product development and delivery to market.
· Retail or retail supplier experience and/or brand development experience.
· Excellent people, presentation and communication skills.
· Preferred – bachelor's degree in chemistry or science/engineering or relevant experience.
· Preferred – experience in customer facing product development role.
· Good working knowledge
of Quality Management Systems, HACCP, BRC, Allergen Controls, Ethical Requirements, Internal Auditing, third party and retailer accreditation systems and Codes of Practice.
