Job Summary
We are seeking a DBT therapist, psychologist or psychological therapist to join the ‘Options' Offender Personality Disorder Team at HMP Downview (female prison, Sutton, Surrey). The role involves delivering modified forensic DBT programmes, 1:1 EMDR, staff training, consultation, and formulation for women on the Personality Disorder Pathway.
Main Responsibilities
 * Deliver Modified Forensic Dialectic Behavioural Therapy to women screened in the OPD pathway – individual and group treatment.
 * Attend and take part in weekly DBT consultation meetings and adhere to DBT principles.
 * Develop individual formulations applying psychological models of personality disorder, offending, observed behaviour, cognitive, emotional and interpersonal patterns for complex clinical needs.
 * Provide outreach support and stabilisation with prisoners at HMP Downview as directed.
 * Provide clinical supervision to the team’s psychological therapists, Assistant Psychologists, trainees and other members when appropriate.
 * Work autonomously within professional guidelines and the service’s policy framework.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
 * Postgraduate qualification in DBT.
 * Postgraduate qualification in CBT.
 * Clinical qualification registered with the relevant body (e.g., HCPC) and eligibility for membership of the SfDBT or equivalent.
 * Accredited membership of the BABCP (or recognised qualification with CBT route). Doctoral level training in clinical, forensic or counselling psychology or equivalent is desirable.
 * Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment across care settings including prison.
 * Experience of working with people with personality disorder or complex needs; experience within the prison or forensic environment is desirable.
 * Ability to work in a secure environment and maintain enhanced security clearance.
Key Skills & Knowledge
 * Proficient use of complex psychological assessment and intervention methods.
 * Strong communication and consultation skills with professionals and clients.
 * Knowledge of the Women's Offender Personality Disorder Pathway.
 * Experience in trauma‑informed care and risk assessment is desirable.
