We are looking for a compassionate and confident Learning Support Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support to a child with Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) in Aylesbury. Location: Aylesbury Hours: 3 hours per day, Monday to Friday (15 hours per week) Start Date: ASAP Contract: Ongoing, term-time only Your Role as a Learning Support Assistant in Aylesbury As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to support a child with PDA on a 1:1 basis. This child requires a consistent, emotionally attuned adult who understands the challenges of demand avoidance and can support them to feel safe and in control. Your duties will include: providing low-demand, relationship-based support during the school day; using child-led approaches and adapting to individual needs moment-by-moment; supporting emotional regulation and creating a calm, non-pressured environment; and working closely with other staff and parents to ensure consistency and communication. Who We're Looking For We welcome applications from Learning Support Assistants with experience in: supporting children with PDA, Autism Spectrum Condition, or high anxiety; implementing low-arousal, flexible approaches in line with the child's needs; and building trust-based relationships that prioritise safety, autonomy, and mutual respect. You must be reliable, emotionally resilient, and able to think on your feet. Previous experience with PDA is highly desirable, but training and guidance will be available for the right candidate.
