About The Role
You will join Prof. Daniel Loughran’s research group as a postdoctoral research associate in pure mathematics, working on the project "Geometric Analytic Number Theory". A successful applicant will have expertise in one of the following areas:
* Rational points on varieties and local‑global principles.
* Arithmetic statistics, including the distribution of number fields, class groups, and rational points.
* The arithmetic of algebraic stacks.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with Prof. Loughran, plan and manage your own research and administrative work, take an active role in the research group, mentor PhD students, and help organise study groups and seminars. The position includes travel funds, no teaching duties, a 22‑month contract starting latest on 1 October 2026, and a possible lower‑grade (Grade 6) offer if a Grade 7 appointee cannot be found.
About You
* A track record of excellent research in the relevant subject area.
* A PhD (or close to finishing) in a relevant discipline.
* Good organisational and team‑working skills.
* Leadership and independence qualities.
