Summary
The Admissions Coordinator (Evenings 3p-11p) is responsible for gathering relevant pre-admission patient information accurately and in a timely manner, interpreting this information, and determining admission suitability or the need for higher-level clinical screening. This position responds promptly and professionally to patient, family, or professional referent calls, projecting a warm and friendly demeanor to all patients, families, and referents.
Essential Job Functions/Duties/Responsibilities
1. Provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively with Gosnold customers, including patients, families, healthcare providers, and referring parties.
2. Determine preliminary payer status and verify health insurance coverage upon admission.
3. Prepare and maintain accurate electronic and paper patient records, reflecting current level of care and pertinent information.
4. Initiate financial interviews with clients, collect relevant documentation and payments, and assist with follow-up and collection activities to ensure payment for services.
5. Communicate with other departments to maximize utilization and reimbursement.
6. Clearly communicate knowledge of Gosnold programs and optimize referrals to inpatient, residential, family, or outpatient programs.
7. Maintain knowledge of key referral accounts and prioritize their requests.
8. Process patient records according to Gosnold standards, complete admission data entry accurately and timely.
9. Respond to general information requests by directing callers to appropriate sources.
10. Interface professionally with all management levels and peers, supporting new initiatives and participating in improvement projects.
11. Collect and document financial and personal information relevant to patient treatment.
12. Learn about systems of addiction and mental health treatment.
13. Work cooperatively as part of the Patient Access team.
14. Maintain accurate admission documents and prepare statistical reports for management.
15. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Knowledge, Experience, & Skills Required
* High School Diploma.
* Ability to use a computer and web-based programs.
* Strong customer service orientation.
* Knowledge of electronic data systems and ability to accurately enter data into health record systems.
* Ability to multitask and service multiple callers.
