Junior Accounting Assistant
Location: Frimley, Surrey
Function: Finance, Shared Service Centre (SSC)
About the role
This role is based in our EMEA Shared Service Centre and is to be accountable for providing financial analysis, performing balance‑sheet reconciliations, intercompany accounting support, bank and fixed‑asset management, and liaising across multiple functions. It also includes actively supporting the Associate Manager with routine tasks and process improvements.
This role is currently a 6‑month fixed‑term contract.

Responsibilities
* Ensure appropriate controls are operational to maintain the quality and integrity of financial information, ensuring consistency of process across EMEA.
* Maintain financial statements in accordance with US and local GAAP and ensure all appropriate records are preserved.
* Perform analysis of balance‑sheet accounts to identify discrepancies and provide input on resolutions.
* Ensure all internal controls, financial policies and procedures established by GIA are followed.
* Develop and maintain internal/external audit and SOX documentation, acting as liaison between auditors and business partners during reviews.
* Resolve country queries.
* Develop customer relationships with internal customers.
* Identify process improvements, emphasizing streamlining and improving controls within accounting using LEAN methodology.
* Raise intercompany invoices, allocate cash and reconcile intercompany accounts.
Experience you'll bring
* Graduate calibre, ideally in business/finance or equivalent.
* Experience with balance sheets, accruals and reconciliations; strong numeracy skills.
* Knowledge and experience of SAP CO module is an advantage.
* Strong Excel skills.
* Experience in an accounting department of a medium to large company.
* Ideally studying for CIMA / ACCA / ACA.
