Job Purpose
To supervise and support students during non-teaching times and/or in the absence of a teacher, ensuring a safe, orderly, and positive environment throughout the school.
Key Responsibilities

Supervise students in classrooms, corridors, dining halls, playgrounds, and other designated areas during breaks, lunch, or transitions between lessons.
*
Maintain good order and discipline, promoting positive behaviour in line with the school’s behaviour policy.
*
Provide cover supervision for classes during short-term teacher absence, ensuring students remain on task with work set by teaching staff.
*
Monitor and support students to ensure their safety and well-being.
*
Deal promptly with incidents in line with school procedures, reporting issues to the appropriate staff member.
*
Assist with the entry and exit of students at the start and end of the school day if required.
*
Support the smooth running of school events and activities when needed.
*
Build positive relationships with students and staff to create a welcoming, inclusive environment.

Essential:

Ability to maintain authority and order while building positive relationships with young people.

Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions and school policies.

Calm and assertive approach when dealing with challenging situations.

Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.
Desirable:

Previous experience working with children or young people in an educational or supervisory setting.

Knowledge of behaviour management strategies.

First aid training (or willingness to undertake training).
Working Hours
Typically term-time only, with hours aligning to the school day (exact hours negotiable). Flexibility may be required to support before/after-school provision or school events
