Job Summary
We are looking for a Finance trustee with an accountancy background to support the Board in shaping the chairity's future and ensuring its future sustainability, providing an oversight of our financial affairs, monitoring our financial viability and ensuring that proper financial records and procedures are maintained. This is a volunteer role.
The Board is collectively responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of Communigrow and its financial health and for developing its aims and objectives in line with the governing document and all legal and regulatory requirements.
Experience of the charity sector is preferable but a previous role as a trustee is not essential.
Duties
* Attend meetings of the Board of trustees.
* Support the Board and management by overseeing and presenting budgets, management accounts and financial statements.
* Support the Board in monitoring the financial viability of the charity.
* Advise on the financial implications of the charity's business plan.
* Work with the other trustees on the long-term financial strategy of the charity.
* Ensuring appropriate presentation of accounts and records and that financial resources are spent in accordance with the charity's objects, good governance and legal and regulatory requirements.
* Work with other trustees and staff to ensure there are sound financial processes and procedures in place for the control of the charity's assets.
* Ensure that sound and compliant financial management is maintained, liaising with both the charity's bookkeeper.
* Manage the charity's bank accounts.
* Oversee HMRC and Charity Commission reporting.
Requirements
* A commitment to the charity's objectives, strategic vision with good, independent judgement and an ability to think creatively.
* An understanding and acceptance of the legal duties and responsibilities of a trustee in the charity sector.
* Excellent networking, influencing and communication skills.
* An understanding of the challenges facing small to medium UK charities in maintaining financial sustainability.
* An ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
