A small, community-run SEN school in Brixton is expanding its provision for 2025 and is looking for a dedicated Year 7 Teacher to join the team. This role offers the chance to work with students who are beginning their secondary journey while learning in a familiar, primary-style classroom setting. By keeping Year 7 pupils in one classroom, the school ensures a smooth transition into Key Stage 3, helping students feel secure and ready to learn.

The Year 7 Teacher Role
As a Year 7 Teacher, you will deliver core subjects such as English, Maths, and Science at a primary level, ensuring lessons are engaging, accessible, and tailored to meet individual needs. Strong behaviour management skills are essential, as you’ll be setting clear expectations and creating a calm, structured classroom environment. This is a fantastic opportunity for a KS2 teacher or a secondary teacher with SEN experience who is ready to take on a rewarding role in Brixton.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver lessons in core subjects at a primary level for Year 7 pupils with MLD
* Create a nurturing, inclusive environment that promotes independence and confidence
* Implement behaviour management strategies to maintain a positive classroom climate
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including therapists and psychologists
* Monitor progress, adapt teaching strategies, and provide regular feedback
* Lead and support a classroom team including teaching assistants
* Build strong relationships with parents and carers to support learning beyond the classroom
Qualifications And Skills
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
* Strong knowledge of ASD, MLD, and effective SEN teaching strategies
* Excellent communication, teamwork, and classroom management skills
