JAB Recruitment is supporting a leading global engineering and construction group operating in the offshore energy sector to source a highly experienced Principal WTG (Wind Turbine Generator) Engineer. This is a 12-month contract (outside IR35) with potential to continue, based in the Kingston office on a hybrid working model.
Purpose of the Position
As Principal Engineer, you will report to the Floating ILA Engineering Manager within the Offshore Wind business line. You will be responsible for all activities related to turbine design and interface with the turbine OEM for offshore wind projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Build and verify the aeroelastic model of the turbine.
* Manage turbine controller tuning and development activities.
* Perform all required checks of the turbine and controller.
* Support turbine tower design activities.
* Monitor, support, and verify the ILA process.
* Liaise with external contractors involved in turbine modelling and controller development.
* Participate in client technical meetings and reviews.
* Support Offshore Wind business unit activities with advanced, non-conventional structural analyses and numerical simulations.
* Produce high-quality, industry-standard technical reports.
What We’re Looking For
Education
* Chartered Engineer status preferred.
* Engineering degree required (Aeronautical preferred).
Experience
* 10–15 years’ experience in offshore wind design, covering both floating and fixed wind substructures.
Technical Skills
* Strong knowledge of relevant codes and standards (including DNV and IEC).
* Expertise in turbine design and WTG engineering.
IT Skills
* Proficiency with engineering software such as OrcaFlex, Bladed, or FAST.
* Strong MS365 capability.
