We are delighted to be looking for an experienced Structural Engineer working towards chartered status to join an award-winning practice in Bath. As a Structural Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
1. Detailed design and analysis of building structures across various sectors, including unique historical projects, contemporary elements, new builds, and refurbishments.
2. Undertaking site visits and supporting site managers on technical issues.
3. Understanding site issues and devising solutions, with a focus on sensitive engineering methods for historic structures.
4. Communicating effectively with contractors, architects, and clients.
5. Progressing towards a senior management position.
6. Ensuring timely project delivery through site visits.
Past and current projects include:
* Landmark heritage buildings such as Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle.
* A £70m, 15,000m² landmark education facility for a well-known local university, incorporating steel, concrete, and a two-storey basement.
* A £14M contemporary glass and steel museum for an iconic British sporting institution.
* The £15M conversion of a historic power station into an educational facility.
* A new roof on a 16th-century brick ruin and the repair of a medieval hall—both Grade I listed.
* An early 1900s Grade II listed swimming pool.
* Prestigious Roman archaeological sites.
This practice covers sectors such as education, residential, commercial, and healthcare. They are recognized for their contemporary yet historically sensitive designs and specialized engineering techniques for historic structures. The office is located near central Bath, offering a pleasant working environment, and covers sites across the South West and London.
Essential criteria for this role:
* A relevant degree in civil or structural engineering.
* Experience working with building structures.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Knowledge of the design process.
