Overview of the Employer A family run business trading for over 27 years, McCrory provides Design & Build Principal Contractor construction services for prestige clients in the Energy, Transport & Utilities Infrastructure sectors in the UK and Ireland. Clients in the last 20 years include The Irish Rail Procurement Agency, Irish Rail / Iarnród Éireann, NI Translink, Network Rail, National Grid, Affinity Water and the Channel Tunnel Group.
Overview of Role The successful candidate will be based in Omagh, Co. Tyrone and will be introduced to the commercial aspects of various infrastructure building & civil engineering projects for prestigious clients ranging in value from £1K to £15M, located in the UK and Ireland.
Current projects, immediate opportunities and live tenders are predominantly in the southeast of England.
Current projects include: Civil Engineering works, High Voltage Substation and Low Voltage Distribution diversion & implementation, Reinforced Concrete foundations, Structures and Buildings, Portal Steel frame building, Cladding & Roofing, Heavy Duty Reinforced Concrete and tarmac highway pavement finishes, services and utilities diversion and installation, general building, industrial facility and office construction and fitout including full Mechanical & Electrical fitout and various building internal fitout.
The ideal applicant will have 0 – 5 years’ experience working in a similar sector in the UK and be familiar with UK based processes, regulations, procedures etc.
Applicable to NI Applicants Only:
Regular travel to England will be required. The frequency and duration of the stays in England will be negotiable. Infrequent travel to client’s sites in France will also be required.
Flights to, accommodation, travel expenses and company pool vehicles in England will be provided.
Reports to Senior Commercial Manager (SCM)
Employment Type Permanent, Full Time.
Key Roles and Responsibilities Tender Support:
• Supporting the preparation and pricing of tender opportunities.
• Sourcing of pricing and costings from existing and potential suppliers and subcontractors
• Sourcing of alternative offerings and value engineering opportunities
Live Projects:
• Support the processing of site measures for periodic valuations.
• Preparation, review and gathering of information for and monitoring of variation claims to client.
• Continual review and production of Daily Allocation Sheets, liaising with Site Managers and Supervisors.
• Liaising and negotiating with client QS’s, commercial and project managers to ensure valuations and claims are justly appraised.
• Support the production of project budgets and costings and cost projections, liaising with and reporting to the SCM.
• Preparation of weekly variation and monthly project costings and budget reports for SCM.
• Review of sub-contractor claims and preparation of payments for approval by the SCM.
Additional & Shared Roles and Responsibilities • Liaising with suppliers and sub-contractors
• Production and maintenance of up-to-date price lists from suppliers and sub-contractors.
• Preparation of final account valuations with SCM and Director(s) for presentation to client(s).
Essential Skills & Qualifications • Third Level Education: BA (Hons) in Quantity Surveying
• A Level or equivalent in Mathematics (A or higher), 1 x Science (B or higher) and any other A-Level (B or higher)
• GCSE Level in Mathematics (A or higher), 1 x Science (B or higher), English (B or higher) and any other
• Full Clean (3 points or less) UK/EU Driving Licence.
• Current passport with at least six months to expiry
• Experienced in MS Excel, MS Outlook, and the MS Windows file system.
• Experienced in the use of Revu Bluebeam.
• Good Health – Network Rail (ML1) Medical may be conducted.
• Have a good understanding and experience of contemporary professional email communications with a high standard of grammar and punctuation
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both oral and written (email) forms.
• Strong negotiating skills.
• Ability to listen and communicate with clarity and display attention to detail at all times.
• Be able to work independently, with self-motivation and to work as part of a team with a common goal.
Desirable Skills, Qualifications and Characteristics Infrastructure civil engineering interest and/or background
CSCS UK H&S Test for Managers & Professionals
CSCS or CSR Site Card
Half Day / 3 Year Manual Handling Certification
High level of attendance and punctuality in school and higher education.
Knowledge and/or experience of MS Project.
Other Additional Information All staff must undergo initial Drugs and Alcohol (D&A) Screening in accordance with the Drugs and Alcohol Polices of McCrory Ltd, and those of our Clients.
Random and for cause D&A screening may also occur during the course of employment
Regular (once a fortnight) travel to the UK satellite site offices and sites will be required.
Salary & Package Negotiable, meeting your expectations, dependant on CV, Record of Academic Achievement, experience and interview appraisal.
This role is suitable for postgraduates or junior engineers with up to 10 years’ experience.

Up to 28 Days annual holidays (incrementing annually, after 3 consecutive years of service) plus bank holidays,
Formal annual minimum 2%-5% salary scale,
Formal Christmas Bonus arrangement in the region of 2% – 7% of salary,
Overtime available with appropriate uplift to be agreed.
