Role Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Psychologist to join our welcoming and friendly Integrated Community Stroke Team in Barnsley. The team comprises the Stroke Rehabilitation Unit (SRU) and the Early Supported Discharge (ESD) service, which enables patients to continue their rehabilitation therapy at home with the same intensity and expertise as in hospital.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of an experienced Clinical Psychologist you will:
* Provide both indirect and direct psychological interventions using the biopsychosocial stepped‑care approach.
* Support the provision of psychological assessment and interventions within the Integrated Community Stroke Service.
* Assist in the delivery of liaison, teaching, and training to staff and stroke survivors.
* Be actively involved in service development, audit initiatives and the maintenance of the Psychology Services caseload databases and information/assessment resources.
* Conduct neuropsychological and psychological assessments under supervision, delivering Level One and Level Two interventions.
Qualifications and Experience
Required:
* BPS accredited degree in Psychology (minimum 2:1), conferring eligibility for GBC.
* Experience working with adults with mental health and/or cognitive difficulties.
* Ability to work flexibly across both an in‑patient and community setting.
* Good understanding of relevant psychological models, data analysis and report writing skills.
* A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Desirable:
* Post‑graduate training in professional psychology, mental health practice or research design and analysis.
* Experience working with neurological or complex physical health conditions.
* Experience liaising with multi‑disciplinary teams and presenting to stroke survivors and families.
