Job Description Summary:

The Department of Art & Art History at William & Mary, a public university of the Commonwealth of Virginia, invites applications for a two-year, non-tenure track Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor instructional position that will begin August 10, 2026.

We seek an individual with expertise in Asian Art History; able to teach general surveys of Asian Art as well as more specialized courses in East, Southeast, and/or South Asian Art History. The successful applicant will be expected to be an effective teacher and will have a 3-3 teaching load.

Job Description:

Required Qualifications:

* A Master's degree in Art History.

* Ability to teach compelling courses in Asian Art History

* Ability to teach other lecture and seminar-style courses.

* Ability to contribute to teach general survey of Asian Art History.

Preferred Qualifications:

* A Ph.D. or ABD is preferred at the time appointment begins August 10, 2026.

* Previous teaching experience.

Conditions of Employment:

* This position may require additional hours beyond the typical work week, including occasional overnight and weekend work as needed to meet the business needs of the operation.

* This is a restricted position, subject to the term in which it is assigned and hired.
