Sewell Wallis is proud to be partnering with a well-established Sheffield-based property PLC to recruit a Financial Controller. The company are one of the UKs leading land & property development, home building and construction businesses. This is a senior role requiring strong commercial acumen, a robust technical accounting background, and the ability to lead and manage a team of qualified accountants.
As Financial Controller you'll be working closely with the internal leadership team, you will play a key role in forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning for a growing division within the wider group which sits at around £350mil T/O. The position offers a genuine opportunity to influence strategic growth, with significant exposure to commercial decision-making. Responsibilities will include supporting joint ventures, fundraising activities, and overseeing corporate structuring, acquisitions, and exit strategies.

What will you be doing?
Preparation and review of consolidated management accounts, monthly reports and support with preparation of the statutory accounts.
Lead a finance team of 8 including 4 qualified accountants.
You'll oversee the preparation, review and presentation of annual budgets
Oversight of forecasting and budget reviews, supporting preparation of business plans and strategy.
Supporting management in negotiating and reviewing the financial feasibility of potential deal structures including funding strategies.
Preparation and presentation of detailed financial models to senior management assisting with risk assessments and investment decisions.
Oversight and review of returns for Corporation tax, VAT, CIS and other relevant taxes What skills are we looking for?
Qualified candidate (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
Robust technical knowledge around IFRS and tax principles
Experience working within a complex multi-entity business
Experience with financial controls, statutory reporting, budgeting and forecasting
Management experience, particularly of qualified accountants
PLC experience and property & construction industry experience would be beneficial although not essentialWhat's on offer?
