Key Responsibilities:
The Assistant Cook has a vital role to play, especially in the absence of a Cook. You will work with the catering team to ensure that the service meets all contractual and legislative requirements, especially in respect of health and safety regulations. The food presented will be appetising and nutritional recognising standards and cost.
The successful candidates will be able to demonstrate:
1. Previous catering and/or cooking experience
2. A valid Food Hygiene Certificate or a willingness and ability to obtain this
3. A knowledge of different cooking methods and techniques
4. A knowledge of Hygiene procedures and Health and safety restrictions and requirements
5. Practical knowledge of cooking, food preparation and use of tools and equipment
Duties include, but are not restricted to:
6. Assist with any food service preparation assigned by the Head Cook.
7. Be prepared to take responsibility for meal preparation as required.
8. Be familiar with quantity requirements for menu items.
9. Assist with all inventories and ordering procedures, making certain all food in the freezers and stock is rotated
10. Coordinate the daily work schedule with the Head Cook for efficient preparation of food.
11. Maintain safe work habits and standards of cleanliness in accordance with all government regulations. Make certain that deportment and behaviour of those in the kitchen area is always exemplary and in keeping with professional standards.

13. Assist with the cleaning and care of all kitchen equipment in keeping with established health department standards
