Are you currently a Band 5 looking to progress, or a Band 6 looking to develop specialist clinical skills and expertise in acute Elderly Therapy

We are looking for a full time Band 6 Physiotherapist to join our Elderly Therapy Team at York Hospital.

We are a supportive team, committed to investment and development across the four pillars of practice and have a positive culture towards learning, education and professional practice.

You will have access to a support network including Physiotherapy Clinical Lead, Advanced Clinical Specialist Physiotherapists, Management Team, and Professional Leadership Team.

As a valued and key member of the MDT you will have a positive, dynamic approach and will undertake leadership roles. You will communicate effectively, be proactive, organised, adaptable and have a collaborative approach are key skills we are looking for.

Main duties of the job

As part of our multi professional team you will have a client-centred approaches to patient care. You will be involved in all aspects of the assessment, treatment and discharge process, and work alongside both health and social care colleagues to ensure that patients remain as independent as possible and achieve the best possible health and social outcomes.

You will undertake a comprehensive assessment of patients, including those with diverse or complex/ multi-pathology presentations. Use advanced clinical reasoning skills and assessment techniques and provide and deliver an effective treatment plan and to evaluate any intervention.

You will deliver specialist, evidence-based treatment options using assessment, clinical reasoning skills and knowledge of treatment to address relevant functional physical and skill deficit to promote and enable our patients in their recovery.


Your duties will include, but not be limited to:

1. Actively contributing to the delivery of therapy services across the caseload, alongside the senior leadership team.
2. Providing specialist advice to therapy staff and other members of the multidisciplinary team and wider team.
3. Participating in and provide clinical and management supervision.
4. Contributing to multi-disciplinary team working.
5. Contributing to and lead on service improvement and quality initiatives.
6. You will be able to respond flexibly and creatively to challenges.

Education, Qualifications & Training

Essential criteria

14. Degree in Physiotherapy
15. HCPC Registered Physiotherapist
16. Evidence of post graduate training within specialist area
17. Evidence of theoretical learning relevant to role

Desirable criteria

18. Evidence of post graduate qualification or accreditation within specialist area.

Experience & Knowledge Required

Essential criteria

19. Experience in a relevant junior role, including the management of a range of complex conditions, with evidence of additional knowledge acquired through formal and informal training and supervision.
20. Developed/specialist clinical skills within relevant area.
21. Experience in delivering clinical treatment within specialist area
22. Able to demonstrate application of theoretical learning relevant to specialist role.
23. Delivery of relevant audit/research projects
24. Understanding of current issues in health care Standards of Professional Practice

Desirable criteria

25. Practice placement supervisor qualification
26. Experience in the use of outcome measures to evaluate clinical treatment
27. Experience of training/supporting others (including students) within specialist clinical area
