Healthcare Science Support Worker Higher Level – Aberdeen laboratory
The post of a full-time (36 hours per week) Band 3 Healthcare Science Support Worker Higher Level is available in the Aberdeen Genetics and Molecular Pathology Laboratory, a UKAS accredited member laboratory of the Scottish Genomics Network, funded by the National Services Division.
Responsibilities include:
* Handling, receipt and dispatch of a range of patient samples.
* Data entry into laboratory databases.
* Dealing with telephone queries from users and providing general administrative support.
* Performing basic laboratory duties.
* Maintaining interaction with technologists and scientists within the department.
Shift pattern: Monday–Friday 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.
Note: This is a laboratory-based post, not a patient-facing role.
Qualifications and experience
* Vocational Level 3 or equivalent knowledge/education.
* Knowledge of routine and non‑routine healthcare science duties.
* Proficiency in computer and keyboard skills.
* Experience in a range of administrative procedures.
* Excellent communication and telephone skills, with attention to detail.
* Experience with computer databases, patient registers and hospital record systems, preferably in a clinical laboratory environment.
* Willingness to learn new procedures and protocols.
