Role Overview
Sewell Wallis is looking for a Commercial Cost Accountant for a high‑growth metals manufacturing business in Sheffield, South Yorkshire. This role is a fantastic opportunity for an established Cost Accountant or Management Accountant with extensive manufacturing experience to step up into a more commercially focused business‑partnering position.
Responsibilities
* Work closely with operational and commercial teams to understand the full margin elements of the company's product portfolio.
* Analyse and report on raw material costs regularly, including forecasting of elementals, foreign exchange and potential hedging requirements.
* Understand the operational process of the company's product portfolio and incorporate standard costing into product cost and pricing mechanisms.
* Review, analyse and provide informative reporting of operational costs against budget/forecast, assessing manufacturing variances such as mix, yield, price and quantity, and promote cost awareness to drive action and improve future performance.
* Review, analyse and report on production versus forecast, including assessment of volume, revenue and GCM.
* Provide monthly forecasting for operational performance to GCM at a detailed level.
* Identify operational process inefficiencies and suggest necessary improvements to enhance cost efficiency and business improvement.
* Ensure adherence to month‑end group reporting deadlines (calendar day 5), completing all relevant pricing and costing adjustments within operational and accounting software, including reconciliations and valuations of inventory balance‑sheet items.
* Prepare monthly sales and margin analysis, review and commentary for inclusion within management accounts.
* Assist with internal and external audit requirements.
Qualifications
* Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or QBE) with a minimum of 8 years in manufacturing.
* Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
* Experience within manufacturing, with metal and alloy experience considered beneficial.
* Excellent communicator with strong presentation skills.
* Experience in business partnering across departments.
