Main Purpose of Job: The Commercial HGV Parts Manager will be responsible for managing the procurement, stock control, and distribution of parts for our HGV and trailer fleet. You will play a key role in ensuring availability of critical components, improving cost efficiency, and maintaining strong supplier relationships to support smooth workshop operations and high vehicle uptime. Key Duties and Responsibilities: Parts Management Oversee the identification, ordering, and procurement of correct parts for trailers and HGV assets. Maintain optimum stock levels, including impress stock of high-use and critical components. Negotiate with suppliers for the best pricing and lead times while building strategic supplier partnerships. Coordinate with internal workshop teams and external vendors to ensure part availability aligns with maintenance and repair schedules. Review and approve parts invoices, resolve discrepancies, and manage credit returns and cost recovery. Accurately log and report on all parts transactions, costs, and usage trends for management insight. Keep updated on new products, technical advancements, and changes in part specifications or availability. Monitor performance metrics including stock turnover, fill rates, and supplier reliability. General Responsibilities Identify opportunities for process improvements in parts management and procurement. Provide guidance and leadership to parts-related staff or support roles within the team. Stay informed of industry trends in HGV parts supply and inventory control best practices. Ensure adherence to company policies, quality standards, and health & safety regulations. Job Skills Required: Proven experience in a parts management or parts advisory role, ideally within HGV, trailer, or fleet maintenance. Excellent technical knowledge of commercial vehicle parts and suppliers. Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Effective communicator and negotiator with suppliers and internal stakeholders. Proficiency in stock management systems and Microsoft Office tools. Strong commercial awareness and cost-control focus.
